2008 Nanka Outstanding Referee
Glen Koyama
Each year Nanka recognizes a referee for outstanding committment to our sport. This year the award went to Glen Koyama. Glen started judo i 1961 at Pasadena Dojo, and finally settled at San Gabriel Dojo in 1963. He received his Shodan in 1968 and participated with his four children at San Gabriel. Currently, Glen is a "C" level referee and continues to contribute to judo by encouraging young judokas to not only compete, but to become referees. For his continued support, I feel this is an award to Glen has been a long time coming. Dan Takata, Nanka Referee Chair
