  • Attention Judo Community!!  We need your help in hosting Japanese high school students.  There will be nine boys and three girls from the Taisei High School judo team coming to Los Angeles in early December 2008.  Taisei High School has one of the best developmental judo programs in Japan.  Additionally, there are also reciprocal training opportunities at Taisei for motivated and skilled American judokas.   • Hello Nanka Community,  There is a request to send a USJF team of 5 high school age boys and 1 alternative plus one coach to Korea for a high school team tournament. The competition weight is open-weight.  The date of travel is arrive in Busan Korea Aug 1st but no later than Aug 3rd.  The team shiai will be on Aug 4th and 5th.  Participants are responsible for round trip airfare.  USJF will partially fund participants and Nanka will provide additional funding for Nanka participants.  Room and board and transportation in Korea will be provided.  I know that this is on very short notice, but the team must be formed by this week.  Please spread the word and immediately email me or call my cell 310-251-6162 if you have any interested candidate.   • 2008 Nikkei Games - Judo Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 17 at the Long Beach Pyramid. Information and application forms are NOW POSTED. Please mark your calendar for this event. Due to the large turnout last year, we will be expanding to 4 mats areas for 2008.

  • Nanka Development Update (June 12, 2008):  Coaches and Senseis, for the Nanka USJF team, we are looking for one female Juvenile B competitor born 1992-1993 not more than 70kg, and one female IJF Junior competitor born 1989-1991 no weight limit.  If you have a competitor please contact me, Ryan Fukuhara at Email: af906@lafn.org or PH: 310 251-6162.

  • 2008 Southern California Judo Parents Federation Scholarship. It is with a great pleasure that the Southern California Judo Parents Federation announces the 2008 Scholarship Award Program.  Again this year, the Federation plans to award scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors entering college this fall in order to help them pursue higher education.  Deadline is July 14, 2008.  George Kato, Scholarship Program Chairperson
