Junior Promotion Update (07-16-10): Aki Yokoyama
USJF is getting very strict about filling out promotion applications.
1- Competitors needs to fill out #(4) MAJOR SHIAI RECORD. If they do not fill out Major Shiai Record they are considered Non-Competitor, there for they will have to pay Nanka Non-Competitors fee).
Shiai records needs date/ month/ year, plus opponents name, rank and results
2- All Promotion must have the required Kata certificates (NO EXCEPTIONS).
If applicant is a competitor and does not have Shiai record portion filled out, Nanka / USJF will not accept it and it will be send it back to the applicant as INCOMPLETE.

Judo Rank
A. By Dojo Head Instructor for promotions up to Shodan.
1. All Promotions must be registered with Nanka Promotion Board, from Sankyu (Brown Belt) and above.
If not, candidate will NOT be promoted to next rank.
2. Competitors: May submit their promotion application anytime, as long as the competitor has the necessary
Points / Time in grade and meets all the requirements under Nanka promotional guidelines.
3. Non-Competitors: Must be approved by Nanka Board of Examiners

Brown Belt Promotion - Sanky (3kyu) to Ikkyue (1kyu)
- See attached for fee rates and instruction for submitting completed applications. Attached promotion form (in word doc) is in printable format. Just download the forms and you can then type in the required information. Applicant and Head Instructor must sign application before it is submitted.
Black Belt Promotions - Shodan up to Sandan (3 Dan)
- Black Belt Promotion Application Form (USJF Form 20) Attached printable promotion form (in pdf format) is in printable format. Just download the forms and you can then type in the required information. Applicant and Head Instructor must sign application before it is submitted.
Procedure for Submitting Promotion Applications
- Form must be typed with complete information
- All FEES must be included with your application
- Copy of previous promotion rank certificate
- Copy of Nage-No-Kata, Sandan will need Katame-No-Kata
- Paid up USJF annual fees at time of application, Shodan - current year plus previous year. Nidan and above - current year plus three (3) previous years.
- All applicant 18 years and older must have a Background Screening by USJF or USA Judo.
- Refereeing (Black Belt applicants for the rank of Shodan) must attend a referee clinic or perform duties as referee within the previous year
Note: If any of the above is missing or not completed, application will be rejected.
